The senior school students of Somerville School NOIDA, gathered for a special assembly on 13th April 2026, dedicated to the life and legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti.
The proceedings commenced with the solemn lighting of the lamp, followed by the Lord’s Prayer, which set a peaceful and reflective tone for the event.
Presented by the students of Classes IX F and X F, under the meticulous guidance of Ms Simmi Sharma and Ms Lata Bhardwaj, the assembly provided a comprehensive look into the life of the "Father of the Indian Constitution." Through a detailed introduction, the students traced Babasaheb’s journey—from his humble birth and the daunting social challenges he faced to his "never-give-up" attitude that propelled him through prestigious colleges and a monumental political career.
The presentation highlighted Ambedkar’s tireless work as a member of the Constituent Assembly, where he served as the Chairman of the Drafting Committee.
A moving poem titled "Gyaan ke sagar, nyaay ke pratik…” was recited, perfectly encapsulating his persona as an ocean of knowledge and a symbol of justice.
This was followed by a brief, impactful biographical video and a powerful tribute song performed by the Indian Music Choir, which resonated deeply with everyone present.
The assembly concluded with an inspiring Principal’s Address, urging students to internalise Dr. Ambedkar’s values of perseverance and social responsibility. The event drew to a close with the spirited singing of the National Anthem.
