KALARANJINI 2026 ILLUMINATES SOMERVILLE SCHOOL NOIDA
Description:

The auditorium of Somerville School NOIDA, transformed into a breathtaking kaleidoscope of rhythm, drama, and melody as the school hosted its highly anticipated Inter-House Dance Competition, Kalaranjini 2026. This year, the stage witnessed an unprecedented wave of talent, with over 550 enthusiastic students from Classes 6 to 12 stepping forward to represent their respective houses in a dazzling display of coordination and creativity.

The competition was divided into three broad categories, each challenging the performers to explore a completely different realm of dance and expression.

The first was The Divine Grace of Classical Dance where the students brought to life four iconic classical dance forms: Bharatnatyam, Mohini Attam, Kathak and Odissi.

The second category was Disney Drama Dance where the students switched gears from traditional to magical, the Disney Drama Dance category transported the audience straight into fairytale worlds. Merging theatrical storytelling with contemporary choreography, the houses brilliantly enacted timeless classics: The sweeping romance of Beauty and the Beast, the heroic, high-energy triumphs of Hercules, the whimsical charm and innocence of Snow White and the vibrant, magical Aladdin.

The third category was A Tribute to Bollywood Legends. The energy in the auditorium reached a fever pitch during the final category—a nostalgic and high-octane tribute to the golden eras of Bollywood. Students channelled the unique styles, iconic steps, and charismatic personas of four legendary Indian actors: The towering presence and angry-young-man swagger of Amitabh Bachchan, the romantic charm and effortless rhythm of Rishi Kapoor, the rugged, energetic, and beloved style of Dharmendra and the disco-king energy and revolutionary dance moves of Mithun Chakraborty.

The flawless execution and synchronised movements seen on stage were the result of weeks of relentless hard work. The students were trained to perfection, thanks to the untiring efforts, patience, and guidance of our dedicated dance teachers, housemistresses, and house teachers who worked tirelessly behind the curtains.

Kalaranjini was a resounding success. Parents who attended the showcase were left spellbound, watching with immense pride as their children owned the stage with confidence and joy. The thunderous applause that echoed through the halls at the end of the day was a fitting testament to the spirit of teamwork, healthy competition, and artistic excellence that defines Somerville School, NOIDA.
