Somerville School NOIDA staged the annual magnum opus, Chandragupta Maurya on 23rd May 2025 in the Nelson Memorial Auditorium.
Chandragupta Maurya is a historical stage play that portrays the inspiring journey of one of ancient India’s greatest emperors—Chandragupta Maurya. From a humble beginning to the throne of the vast Mauryan Empire, the play traces his struggles, courage, and rise to power under the guidance of the brilliant strategist and philosopher, Acharya Chanakya.
Set against the backdrop of a divided India under the oppressive rule of the Nanda dynasty, the play showcases how Chanakya's wisdom and Chandragupta’s bravery brought about a revolution that led to the foundation of one of the greatest empires in Indian history.
The play conveys a timeless message: with true guidance and a clear vision, even the impossible can be achieved. Chandragupta Maurya is more than just a story—it is a celebration of Indian heritage, courage, and the spirit of transformation.
More than 250 students from Classes VI to XII participated in this grand presentation. The performances of the actors, dancers, singers and musicians were par excellence. The audience were enthralled by the spectacular show and lauded the efforts put in by the teachers and children of the school.
