Being the daughter of an Army officer, Nalini ArulRaj had her schooling at various places in India. She completed her studies with a Masters in Economics from Central College Bangalore. As an Army wife with her husband posted in Delhi, she started her teaching career in Mount St. Mary’s School and Loreto Convent School, New Delhi.
She later joined Somerville School Noida in 1993 as a Post Graduate Teacher in Economics. She was promoted the Headmistress in 1998 and Principal in 2006. She was awarded the National Award for teachers in 2012 by the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, and felicitated by Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh. This was the most important and memorable moment of her life.
